Corporate Work Study Chaperones – Volunteer or Stipend

Don Bosco Cristo Rey has a need for 2 adults to meet the corporate work study students inside the Gallery Place Metro Station (Monday – Friday 7:45 – 8:45 am) to take attendance, check their professional attire, and help them safely board the trains.  This one-hour commitment is perfect for individuals who live or work downtown and retired 'early risers'.  Small stipend possible. Paid Drivers

Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School has immediate openings for Part-time Minibus and Van Drivers to drive students to/from work each day.  Morning (7:45-9:45am) and evening (4-6:30pm) shifts available, 10-20 hrs per week depending upon the shift.  Must be 21+ years old and a licensed driver with a clean driving record and knowledge of the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Must submit to background check. Assistant Principal for Academics

The Archdiocese of Washington and the Salesians of Don Bosco seek an Assistant Principal for Academics for this new Catholic college preparatory high school with an innovative work-study program component now in its third year. Through the corporate work study program, all students earn a significant portion of their education costs by working five days a month in a job provided to them by the school. Our school, located in Takoma Park, MD, educates qualified students who are underserved and have no other option for a private college prep program due to their economic background.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

A Master’s degree in educational administration, curriculum or a related field.

Minimum Experience Requirements:
Five years of high school teaching is preferred. Previous administrative experience is desirable.

Other Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of the Catholic faith, beliefs and practices along with a thorough understanding of and commitment to the educational mission of the Archdiocese of Washington, the Salesians of Don Bosco and the vision of the Cristo Rey Network.

The candidate must possess a positive attitude; good communication skills, a collaborative leadership style; sensitivity to working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.

Brief Summary of Duties:
The Assistant Principal for Academics will oversee instructional leadership, curriculum development, and teacher supervision. The candidate will be responsible for scheduling of courses and students, and collate and use results of testing and other assessments to improve instruction.

Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions

The Archdiocese of Washington and the Salesians of Don Bosco seek a Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions for this new Catholic college preparatory high school with an innovative work-study program component now in its third year. Through the corporate work study program, all students earn a significant portion of their education costs by working five days a month in a job provided to them by the school.
Our school, located in Takoma Park, MD, educates qualified students who are underserved and have no other option for a private college prep program due to their economic background. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions builds upon a variety of creative approaches which include significant community outreach to continue to grow a coed student body, that is employable, ethnically diverse, demonstrate financial need, and who are desirous of success in College.

Minimum Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

Minimum Experience Requirements:
Three years experience in high school admissions is preferred.

Other Requirements: The ideal candidate must have knowledge of the Catholic faith, belief and practices with a thorough understanding of, and commitment to, the educational mission of the Archdiocese of Washington, the Salesians of Don Bosco and the vision of the Cristo Rey Network. Must possess a vibrant personality and positive attitude; be a clear communicator and team player with good management skills; and sensitivity in working in multi-cultural and diverse environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Proficiency in oral and written Spanish is required. Some evening and weekend work required.

Brief Summary of Duties:
The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will direct and administer the admissions process along with the Principal and CWSP Executive Director. Will focus efforts in proactively recruiting students who have potential, are employable and demonstrate financial need, to increase enrollment. Concerned with the development of potential students academically, professionally and spiritually, according to the mission of Archdiocese of Washington, the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Cristo Rey Network.

Position is available June 7, 2010, but could accommodate an earlier start date in a temporary position for training purposes.
